About the role

Vergence is a company builder --- we build real companies from day one, side by side with founders, combining capital, product expertise, technology, and growth. Our flagship bet is Manta Technologies, built to become the category leader in autonomous, AI-driven growth. Finance here is deliberately lean, which means this role carries genuine weight. As Head of Group Accounting you hold full technical responsibility for the consolidated accounts of Vergence and Manta --- a group that spans several countries and moves fast.

What you'll do

You own the annual accounts and interim reporting for the group, end to end. That means preparing consolidated financial statements, handling tax returns, and managing the accounting implications of equity transactions --- which happen regularly in a company-building context. You'll resolve complex technical accounting questions independently, decide when to bring in external specialists, and keep the group's reporting in good shape without a large team behind you. You'll also have a real say in how the finance function is built --- the tools, the processes, and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Who you are

You have at least four years of hands-on experience in accounting or auditing, and you've worked directly with consolidated group accounts --- either as a group financial controller or as an auditor with dedicated consolidation responsibility. Your technical grounding in Norwegian GAAP and IFRS is solid enough that you can work through complex issues on your own and know when to escalate. You've prepared tax returns in a group structure and understand how equity transactions flow through to the accounts. You don't wait to be told what needs doing --- you identify it, prioritise it, and get on with it.

Nice to have: A master's degree in accounting, finance, or economics. A State Authorised Public Accountant qualification (statsautorisert revisor / MRR), or progress toward it. Background at a Big 4 or mid-tier advisory firm. Genuine curiosity about using AI and modern tooling to build a forward-looking finance function.
