We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join our R&D team developing the next generation of marine automation systems. In this role, you will design and develop safety-critical backend software for embedded controllers, communication protocols, and automation platform components that power vessels worldwide. Working as part of a strategic development program, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions for maritime automation. Key Responsibilities Develop embedded backend software in C/C++ for microcontrollers, focusing on performance, memory efficiency, and real-time operation Design, implement, and maintain communication protocol stacks, including both proprietary and industry-standard protocols Develop transport, session, and application layer functionality, including state machines, framing, parsing, and error handling Optimize software for timing, latency, throughput, and resource utilization Integrate firmware with hardware interfaces, peripherals, and low-level drivers Ensure compliance with relevant maritime, industrial, and cybersecurity standards Produce and maintain technical documentation throughout the software development lifecycle Collaborate closely with software, hardware, QA, and system engineering teams to deliver robust platform solutions Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives Contribute to testing, debugging, and validation of embedded software and communication interfaces Key Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field Minimum 5 years of experience developing embedded software in C/C++ Proven experience implementing communication protocol stacks such as UART, SPI, I2C, Profinet, TCP/IP, Modbus, OPC-UA, or MQTT Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures, DMA, interrupts, low-level drivers, and embedded hardware interfaces Experience with embedded cybersecurity concepts such as secure boot, encrypted communication, and access control Familiarity with Git version control and modern CI/CD development practices Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to software development Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams Passion for emerging technologies, embedded systems, and AI-assisted software development Fluent in English, both written and spoken Why choose us and why we'd choose you?
