Helly Hansen is looking for an Outdoor Designer to join our team in a temporary position. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative outdoor products, working closely with a passionate and cross-functional team dedicated to creating gear that performs in the world's most demanding environments. As Outdoor designer you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing outdoor apparel for women and men. This includes creating innovative solutions for performance, durability, and user experience while ensuring products align with our brand's values of quality, sustainability and creating professional grade gear. You will work closely with product development, fabric, sourcing and marketing teams to ensure designs meet both aesthetic and functional goals. Our mission is to make professional grade gear to make people stay and feel alive. Main Tasks: Product Design: Create and develop outdoor apparel with a focus on user experience, quality and bring our design vision to life. To take part in critique process for construction, function and sizing before handing over to our development team. Manage multiple design projects from concept to production, meeting deadlines and ensuring high standards of quality.Innovation: Generate creative solutions to improve product functionality, including material selection, form factor, and sustainable practices.Research & Trends: Stay updated on trends and competitor landscape, consumer needs, and advancements in outdoor product design, material science, and environmental impact.Prototyping & Testing: Create sketches, working closely with our professionals and development teams to refine designs.Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams such as product management, development, marketing, and supply chain to bring concepts to market.Sustainability: Integrate sustainable materials and processes into product designs that meet our ESG goalsUser Feedback: Collect and incorporate feedback from our professionals and outdoor enthusiasts to continuously improve products and create professional grade gear.Technical Specs: Develop detailed design specifications and technical drawings for manufacturing.Others: To carry out other related duties and instructions as required by Design ManagerAdditional tasks: Work closely with key markets to gain insights and areas of opportunity on a global scaleCollaborate across marketing, operations, sourcing and merchandisingTravel to key markets, trade shows, vendors, etc.Skills: You are a creative designer with an engaging and inspiring attitudeYou possess consumer understanding with an ability to drive executionYou have an ability to manage multiple timelines and deadlinesYou deliver on you commitmentProblem solving and curious mindsetCommunication and listening skillsGrowth mindsetPassion for the mountains and outdoor activitiesExperience needed: Min 5 years with related design experienceUndergraduate/graduate degrees preferably in Design or a related field but your total experience is valued highDeep apparel expertise in technical product design and creationAn in-depth knowledge of design techniques, processes, and technologyA strong comprehension of product construction, color trends, textiles, and materialsA strong eye for product aesthetic and qualityRecognition of the brand’s target market and consumer attributesUnderstanding of the global outdoor apparel trends and consumer needsKnowledgeable in working with factoriesWe offer: A culture that rewards excellence in an exciting phase of growth and new opportunitiesAn ambitious, dynamic, creative, and international environmentCompetitive compensation and benefits, and an active environment with passion for sportsThis is a full-time temporary position covering a maternity leave at our Oslo headquarters.
